Open to Athletes in 3rd-12th Grade
It's summertime! Get outside and play in the sun with friends. Register with a partner or as a free agent and we will assign you a partner in your age group. Training will be split into three divisions: Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginner. All divisions will play on the grass with the exception of the Advanced group, which will play on the sand. Playing outdoor can help a player in a variety of ways, including enjoying the game for a longer time and benefiting from the mental aspect of playing on a two-person team.
Additionally, each player must be able to perform every skill in outdoor and therefore gets a lot of reps gaining experience with each of those skills. To be successful in outdoor volleyball a player must be able to pass, set, hit, serve, and play defense. It forces the players to develop their weaker skills. It also requires players to cover more of the court on serve receive and on defense and this teaches players to read the hitter and control the ball. For sand players, moving in the sand and jumping in the sand is much more difficult than in indoor, so playing beach volleyball can help you develop a stronger jump and make you quicker on defense because you’re under constant resistance in the sand.
The top finishing Advanced team will receive a bid to compete at a select Wasatch Beach tournament in Salt Lake City.
